Upon arriving in Comares, we recommend parking your vehicle in the parking lot next to the Puerta de Málaga, as many of the village streets are narrow or pedestrian. Remember that Comares is a small village that can be easily explored in a few hours.
Before exploring the municipality, visit the Comares Tourism Office, located in the Town Hall building. Here you will find detailed information about the municipality and its surroundings. Don’t hesitate to consult the friendly and knowledgeable staff for recommendations on points of interest and available activities.
If you wish to discover Comares in a more comprehensive way, we recommend joining one of the routes organized by the municipality. These outings, which take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 12:00 pm, will allow you to explore the most prominent tourist points of Comares. The price is €5 per person and children up to 12 years old have free access. The departures are from the Plaza Balcón de la Axarquía.

The Puerta de Málaga was the main entrance to the past of the Plaza de la Villa. This historic place witnessed the handover of Comares to the Christian forces. Look closely at the walls of the gate and marvel at its history. You will find shields and commemorative plaques that tell the story of this emblematic site.
The Calle del Perdón witnessed a significant event in the history of Comares: the mass baptism of thirty Morisco families who decided to stay in the village. From that moment on, the street was called Calle del Perdón. Walk down this historic street and admire its unique charm.
The Hisn Comarix is a tile where a general view of the fortress and its citadel is depicted until the end of the 15th century. This place was a strong and famous square for its powerful governors, who, along with those of Malaga and Guadix, challenged the Kings of Granada. The Hisn Comarix used to be a powerful and rebellious village, whose value was recognized by the most prominent kings. On a tile located on the Camino de la Aguada, the importance of water in the life of Comares is narrated. Throughout history, water has been a vital resource for the village, and its storage has always been a constant concern. In the past, women would go down to the spring with pitchers at their hips, jumping from stone to stone and slowly returning the same way. This tile is a tribute to that tradition and to the value of water in Comares.
Comares has several viewpoints that will allow you to enjoy stunning views.
